Eden “Best Team” contribute to success of DMISA 2015 Conference

Eden District Municipality was the co-host of the Disaster Management Institute of South Africa (DMISA) 2015 Disaster Risk Reduction Conference in Hartenbos, of which ±300 both local and international delegates attended.

This year, the Eden District Municipality’s team, was announced as the “Best Team” that helped to prepare and execute this year’s successful DMISA Conference. This prestigious award was presented to the Eden team by the President of DMISA, Dr. Johan Minnie. Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Lionel Esau, congratulated the team members on Monday, 15 September 2015, at the Eden Joint Operational Centre.

Logistical arrangements such as: the coordination of security services, fire safety, coordination of the media, registration of delegates at the event, etc. were amongst the many tasks that the team had to oversee and execute.

One of the highlights of the two day’s Conference activities was, when Eden District Municipality’s Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Lionel Esau, walked to every table at the Gala-evening, to share a word with most of the dignitaries. For DMISA, this was an outstanding symbol of what Eden district can offer to its guests from all over the world – its warmth and generosity.
