The SWD senior cricket team will be determined to get their 2015/16 season off to a winning start when they take on Namibia in Walvis Bay this weekend.

SWD’s record against Namibia is good, but Waldo Lategan and his troops will not underestimate their opponents.  The batting line-up includes experienced players such as Luthando Mnyanda, Waldo Lategan, Sammy-Joe Avontuur and Brendon Louw whilst newcomer, Neil Hornbuckle, will be keen to make an impression.

The bowling attack will rely heavily on Gurshwin Rabie and Marcello Piedt with Lyndon Volkwyn and Siya Simetu providing support.

The teams will play a three-day match starting on Thursday and a T20 match on Sunday.

The team for the weekend is:  Waldo Lategan (captain), Luthando Mnyanda, Neil Hornbuckle, Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Brendon Louw, Erinn Ewerts, Marello Piedt, Siya Simetu, Siyabonga Booi, Lyndon Volkwyn and Gurshwin Rabie.

Hanno Kotze and Nelson Setimani will be added to the team for the T20 fixture.
