Joy Ruwodo, Marketing Manager of HospiceWits, says HospiceWits would like to bring together people of all ages to celebrate life, living and the embracing of every moment. “Zumba is a fun form of exercise for the whole family to enjoy and it provides an opportunity to be part of the first mass gathering aimed at setting a South African record for the biggest Zumba class on the day.”

The Zumba class will be conducted by a professional Zumba instructor, with prizes and giveaways in abundance. Tickets are only R100 for adults and R50 for children under sixteen. All proceeds go to HospiceWits. The HospiceWits website will have a dedicated page for the event, listing the names of all participants to set the South African record for the biggest Zumba class. The event will be held annually, with each year bringing a new challenge to break the previous year’s record.

Those interested in joining the effort can book at to secure a place in the history books.

Referring to the work of HospiceWits, Ruwodo explains that HospiceWits is a not-for-profit organisation that provides care, comfort and support to patients and families that are on the journey of a life-limiting illness. “One of our responsibilities is to put together events for the purpose of fundraising. Attempting to set a South African record for the biggest Zumba class presents an occasion to host an exciting, fun day to both raise funds and celebrate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.”

“HospiceWits adopts a multidisciplinary, holistic approach to palliative care and offers psychosocial support and guidance to patients and their families. HospiceWits welcomes all who need us. No one is turned away, regardless of age, race, religion or financial circumstances,” says Ruwodo.
