Match Drawn

A brilliant 4th wicket partnership between Hanno Kotze and Brendon Louw secured a 6 wicket victory for SWD in their Cricket South Africa Twenty20 Challenge match against Namibia in Walvis Bay on Sunday.   By their own admission, the performance from Louw and Kotze, was long overdue as both players are blessed with talent as match winning batsmen.

Kotze – who was ran out a few ball before SWD got over the line -was in superb form in his innings of 76 (from 56 balls; x6, 2×4).  Himself and Louw (35*; 34 balls, 1×6) got together when SWD was with their backs against the wall at 21/3 (after 4.1 overs) after the early dismissals of Luthando Mnyanda (4), Neil Hornbuckle (6) and Waldo Lategan (5).  They put together a match winning partnership of 111 runs from only 88 balls to enable SWD to reach the target 136/4 with two balls to spare.

Earlier Namibia posted 134/4 with Stephen Baard (43 from 51 balls) the top scoring batsman.

Siya Simetu (2/21 from 4), Siyabonga Booi (1/19 from 4) and Erinn Ewerts (1/22 from 4) were the SWD wicket takers.
