The SWD senior cricket team will be full of confidence when they host Eastern Province in their first home game of the season in the CSA Provincial Challenge Competition.

Although not be able to pull-off an outright victory in their opening three day match against Namibia last weekend Waldo Lategan and his troops will be confident with their batting performance when they posted more than 350 runs in their first innings.

With a well-earned victory in their Twenty20 encounter against Namibia SWD will be full of confidence for Sunday’s T20 match. Eastern Province will have franchise players like Eddie Moore, David White and Ethan O’Reily available to boost their chances.

The SWD bowling unit suffered two recent blows with Otneill Baartman (injured elbow) and Marcello Piedt (injured heel) not available. Their injuries opened the door for Nelson Setimani to make his first class debut for the Oudtshoorn based team. Setimani is a product of the SWD Academy program.

The team for the weekend is: Waldo Lategan (captain), Luthando Mnyanda, Neil Hornbuckle, Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Brendon Louw, Erinn Ewerts,Nelson Setiman, Siya Simetu, Siyabonga Booi, Lyndon Volkwyn and Gurshwin Rabie. Hanno Kotze and Pieter Stuurman will be added to the team for the T20 fixture.
