Western Hope (147 all out) recorded a third successive victory in the Sedgars SWD Premier League competition when they defeated Mossel Bay (82 all out) by 65 runs. They also secured a very important bonus point for the margin of victory. An impressive all round performance by Dougie Baartman (57* with the bat and 3/17 with the ball) laid the foundation for Western Hope’s victory.
In the only other match that was completed on Saturday the NMMU Madibaz (122 all out) beat Sussex (89 all out) by 33 runs. Coenie Nel (39 with the bat) and Gary Wagner (3/1) with the ball were their heroes while Ranwill Claassen (4/23) impressed with the ball for Sussex.
Various matches were abandoned due to rainy weather conditions.
