Fifteen coaches attended the Regional Performance Centre (RPC), Hub and Black African Program Coaches/Coordinators Coaches Acceleration Program Camp, held on the 23 October which was aimed at developing the ‘soft’ skills of coaching.
This is a vitally important aspect of coaching because it is where we as coaches are able to interact, gain the players trust and build belief and confidence in the player, as well as in the skills and processes we are putting across to them. Without these soft skills, coaching is just a blunt object and the success thereof is minimized. The coaches jumped in completely into what was being discussed and some healthy discussions took place
Coaches were introduced to questioning skills, the processes involved in developing basic skills in young cricketers, creating a conducive but challenging environment as well as measuring performance and growth when working with identified players.
