After two draws and one defeat in the Cricket South Africa Sunfoil Cup Three Day competition, the SWD senior cricket team will host the formidable team of the North West Dragons at the REC in Oudtshoorn this weekend.
North West is the only team in South African cricket that never suffered a defeat in a first-class match against SWD and Waldo Lategan and his troops will be keen to record a victory in the three-day match.
Erinn Ewerts and Marcello Piedt will be fit to play again but Siya Simetu received a call up to the Cobras for their RAM Slam T20 campaign and his absence will leave a big void in the spin bowling department.
SWD will be encouraged by the promising performances of Brendon Louw (batting) and Glenton Stuurman (bowling) during the past weekend’s fixtures in Durban.
The squad for the weekend is: Waldo Lategan (captain), Luthando Mnyanda, Neil Hornbuckle, Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Brendon Louw, Pieter Stuurman, Nelson Setiman, Siyabonga Booi, Glenton Stuurman, Gurshwin Rabie. Hanno Kotze and Marcello Piedt.
The North West squad is: Kagiso Rapulana – Captain, Richardt Frenz, Wihan Lubbe, Janneman Malan, Marques Ackerman , Tsholofelo Phukuile , Dieter Klein, Brady Barends , Johannes Diseko , Julian Soutter , Siviwe Gidana , Katleho Kagiso Leokaoke and Edrich Lubbe
