Western Hope with the former SWD player, Douglas Baartman, as their hero continued their good form in the Sedgars SWD Premier League competition with two victories the past weekend.
Baartman contributed a fine 67 in Western Hope’s (205 all out) victory of 97 runs against Blanco (108 all out). On Sunday Western Hope after posting 151 dismissed Pacaltsdorp United for 112 for a victory by 39 runs.
Pirates United (156/4) caused a major upset when they defeated the defending champions, Union Stars (152 all out) with a bonus point victory when they won by 6 wickets. They, however, on Sunday lost by 40 runs against Mossel Bay who posted 148 (all out) and were restricted to 108/9.
Sussex (186/9), thanks to an impressive bowling performance by Godfrey Plaatjies (7/35) defeated Harlequins Forces (74/9) by 112 runs for a well-earned bonus point victory. The match on Saturday between George and Mossel Bay was abandoned because of a wet outfield.
