SWD had the better in terms of bonus points during the past weekend’s Sunfoil Cup Three Day match that was played at Supersport Park in Centurion.
Norherns, who were put in to bat found themselves with their backs against the wall at 121/6, but thanks to a 77 runs partnership for the 8th wicket between Rivaldo Moonsamy (72) and Heinrich Klaassen (71) they managed to post 243. Gurshwin Rabie, who played in his 80th first class match, bagged 5/61. He was well supported by Glenton Stuurman (4/60).
In SWD’s first innings Luthando Mnyanda contributing 135 (202 balls, 19 fours and 2 sixes) to the former’s 116-runs lead on the first innings for a total of 359. Mnyanda is now the third leading runs scorer in the competition with an aggregate of 437 runs and an average of 62.
Northerns, however, comfortably batted themselves out of trouble with their own centurions in Heinrich Klaasen (116 off 164 balls, 21 fours and a six) and Shershan Naidoo (104 not out off 190 balls, 14 fours and 2 sixes). This pair also shared a fourth wicket stand of exactly 140 runs.
Northerns enjoyed the luxury of a declaration to set SWD a target of 214 and they settled for a draw at 64/2 in 22 overs.

SWD on Sunday recorded their third consecutive victory in the Cricket South Africa Limited over Challenge when they defeated Northerns by 3 wickets at Supersport Park in Centurion.
SWD who won the toss and elected to bowl and restricted Northerns to 198/8 thanks to a fine bowling display by Marcello Piedt (4/34). Erinn Ewerts, who only conceded 25 runs in his 10 overs also needs recognition
SWD reached the target with 17 balls to spare with the captain, Waldo Lategan 65 (106 balls; 2×6, 7×4), the top runs scorer. SWD remain unbeaten and top of the log in this competition.
