Perfect summer weather expected across SA leading up to Christmas

1Cape Town – The South African Weather Service has warned extremely high fire danger conditions expected over the interior of the Northern Cape, north and western parts of the Eastern Cape, the Free State as well as the North West province.

Apart from a 30% chance of rain in Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon, 23 December, the entire SA is expected to be hot and dry, with ideal beach weather expected along all coasts.

ALERT: The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) urged the public to be extra cautious around water and the coast during the festive season, and to be aware of rip currents, particularly the over the Christmas period, when the moon will be full.

Winds will reach a maximum of 35 kilometres per hour in Cape Town, and 25 kilometres per hour along the South Coast.

Temperatures in the entire central interior of SA, and along the South Coast are expected to be very hot.

The hottest place in SA tomorrow will be Upington, expected to reach a maximum of 39°C.

Along the coast, Cape Town can expect a maximum of 24°C, George 26°C, Port Elizabeth and East London 29°C, and Durban also 29°C.

Inland, Johannesburg is expected to reach 31°C and Bloemfontein will be 36°C.
