Roodepoort gets its own International Performing Arts Academy for post-matrics

If you have the desire to continue your studies at an institution where you can study subjects such as dance, tap, singing and acting, then WAPA is certainly the place to be!


WESTSIDE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS will open its doors on the 1st of February 2016 in the Town Hall, corner of Rex & Berlandina Street, Roodepoort.

The four-year diploma course in Musical Theatre is accredited by Trinity College London and is internationally recognized. It is also recognized by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority as well as the DELLS and CCEA certification authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Performing diplomas encourage candidates to be innovative and multi-skilled in musical theatre and is part of their ongoing personal and professional development.

Subjects including Dance, Tap, Singing, Acting, Musical Theatre history are studied to provide the students with a wide range of career opportunities after completing their four years of studies.

The international Musical Theatre examinations take place in Roodepoort annually where  students must demonstrate all the practical skills learned in order to master the performing arts.


To register, auditions are compulsory and will take place during the week of the 18th January 2016.


Extra-mural classes from the age of eight and up in the following genres of the performing arts could also be studied at WAPA

  • Acting
  • Singing
  • Ballet, Tap, Modern & Hip-Hop.
  • Instrumental
  • Public Speaking
