Cricket – SWD, on Sunday, hosted Gauteng in a CSA Provincial T20 match at the Recreational Ground in Oudtshoorn.

SWD won the toss and elected to bat.
Hanno Kotze got the home side off to a blistering start with 43-ball 71. Neil Hornbuckle was no slouch either, scoring 29 off 23 balls. Together they put on an opening stand of 104 in 9.2 overs.
Useful contributions from Marcello Piedt [15 off 17 balls] and captain Sammy-Joe Avontuur [16 off 11 balls] enabled SWD to post an imposing total of 173 off their allotted 20 overs.
Scottish international, Jean Symes, looked threatening as he smashed 36 off 22 balls. Brian Barnard also weighed in with 25 off 24 balls, but with little support from the rest of the batsmen, Gauteng were bowled out for 110 handing SWD a comprehensive 63-run victory.
Nelson Setimani was economical and penetrative at the same time and finished with figures of 3/13 in his 4 overs. Ottniel Baardman was more expensive, conceding 18 runs off his 3 overs, but he did pick up 2 wickets. Luthando Mnyanda, Marcello Piedt and Siyabonga Booi bagged 1 wicket each.
The win will cement SWD’s position at the top of the table and rounds off a great weekend after they registered an emphatic 8-wicket win against the same opposition in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup Cross Pool match which ended on Saturday.
