The SWD Women’s team were on fire the past weekend as they – like their senior men counterparts – recorded two emphatic victories against Northern Cape in the Cricket South Africa Women’s Competition matches that were played in Kimberley.
In the three-day match half centuries by Monique Booysen (66) and Haroldine Rhodes (40*) enabled SWD to post 246/5 in their allotted 50 overs. The skipper Haroldine Rhodes (6/10 in 4.4 overs) produced a magnificent bowling performance as Northern Cape was bowled out for 108 to give SWD a 142 runs victory.
In the Twenty 20 match, Northern Cape was restricted to 81/7 with Rhodes (4/13) that was again the bowling hero. SWD only needed 12.1 to accumulate the required runs (82/0) with all ten wickets in hand. Micaela Andrews were in great form with an unbeaten 60*.
