Resuming their first innings at 141/7 on Day 2 of their Sunfoil 3-Day Cup match against Northern Cape at the Diamond Oval in Kimberly, a quick-fire 37 off 51 balls by Siyabonga Booi enabled SWD to compile 179 – a lead of 49.

Gurshwin Rabie and Glenton Stuurman again had the home side in trouble at 13/3 before their middle order of Swanepoel, Bell and Kruger advanced the score to 145/6.

Northern Cape lost their last 4 wickets for eight runs and were bowled out for 153.

The umpires called bad light and play was called off for the day.

Stuurman bagged a fivefer, ending with figures of 5/45 in a marathon spell of 20 overs.

Marcello Piedt [2/30], Rabie [1/24] and Neil Hornbuckle [1/10] provided valuable support.
