SWD made heavy weather of the 105-run target set them by Northern Cape but managed to get over the line with two wickets standing in their Sunfoil 3-Day Cup match played at the Diamond Oval in Kimberly.
Opener, Neil Hornbuckle, was the mainstay of the innings compiling a patient 37 off 57 balls.
He saw Kotze [0], Mnyanda [2] and Avontuur [0] depart cheaply before a 38-run partnership with Chris Marrow put the visitors in with a chance.
Pieter Stuurman joined Marrow and the pair took the score to 69, but when Marrow was bowled for 15 the visitors still had work to do.
After Stuurman fell for 17 it was left to Siyabonga Booi to shepherd the tail home.
Aided by some gutsy batting by the tailenders, Booi dug in and finished undefeated on 17.
