Taxi Violence. Rock. Early in 2006, the front covers of South Africa ́s daily entertainment newspapers throughout three different cities announced the arrival of “The next BIG things!”. It was with a sense of uncanny prophecy, for in the months that followed, Taxi Violence would, through sheer dedication and solid musicianship, rise from relative local obscurity to being a band in national demand. Taxi Violence have travelled a long and independent road to proving themselves as one of the best live acts in SA. Their sound can be described as blues-infused, retro rock with a pinch of sleaze and bourbon.Since their inception, Taxi Violence have gone on to rock every significant venue and headline every major festival in SA, as well as taking their unique brand of rock and quality live shows abroad.

Shaun Jacobs Band. Melodic Rock. Shaun Jacobs Band have been hard at work in studio recording their new album released in early 2016, and on the strength of the new material have just signed a management deal in LA. This tour sees them launching their new album KALEIDOSCOPE. Shaun started out as a solo musician which is how he recorded the breakout album Love Can and before that Paper Wings – albums on which he played every instrument and recorded, mixed and produced everything himself. But it was when he started touring the music and was joined by Andrew Sowter on drums and Craig Sparks on bass that they formed Shaun Jacobs Band. After Craig’s departure, Shaun and Andrew kept the name and became the duo they are today, and the special chemistry they share is very evident. “We have developed something very special as a unit and as friends” says Shaun, “it has changed the way I write and put music together, and we are really excited to take what has been happening on the stage and pour it into this album.” It was the launch of the smash hit single Love Can that catapulted the act across the radio and TV airwaves of SA. The Love Can album won Adult Contemporary Album of the Year at the 2014 SAMAs (South African Music Awards) – the highest accolade in South Africa. In 2014 Shaun also received SAMA nominations for Best Producer and Best Engineer.

Only a few artists have been able to master live‐looping and turn it into an art‐form. Reinhardt Buhr (AKA Wild Lettuce) is one of those individuals making his mark on the SA music circuit. Hailing from Wildernis near George, he started gigging just on the nylon‐string acoustic guitar and has since added Australian didgeridoos, an electric cello, drum machine, percussion, beat‐boxing and even uses a phone app to include a more modern dub‐step style element to some of his songs. Buhr is completely self taught which is hard to believe when you see how he masters the instruments on stage. He prides himself on the diversity of his music and calls it “World Fusion Instrumental” which about sums it up as you really can’t box it into any one style or genre.
