Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Sunday, announced the South Africa Franchise Academy XI that will take part in the CSA Future Cup against the SA University XI and the SA Rural XI in Kimberley from 8 to 10 April 2016.
Marques Ackerman, who was named the Batsman of the Tournament for his 261 runs at an average of 130.5 and high score of 124 was also named the captain of the side.
The announcement was made at the conclusion of the CSA Franchise Academy Week in Potchefstroom. The purpose of the three-day tournament is to ensure a smooth transition for identified cricketers leaving school and prepare them for the next phase of the CSA Pipeline, namely the Senior Provincial and Professional levels.
Otneill Baartman from SWD who represented the Cape Cobras was included in the SA Franchise XI. Baartman is the only player from the Cobras that made the team. Baartman was instrumental with the ball with bowling figures of 3/32 as he helped the Cobras (210 all out) to defeat the Warriors (194 all out) by 16 runs in their last match of the tournament. SWD also had representation in 2015 in the SA Franchise XI when Hanno Kotze made the team.
