The ongoing success of the Cater Care Programme speaks volumes.

Absa and Eden District Municipality have been actively involved in supporting over 100 youth over the past few years. Youths from all walks of life are given the opportunity to get the necessary skills to help the Eden district’s culinary arts sector grow. The Francois Ferreira Academy in George has been at the center of knowledge transfer and moulding individuals into professionals.

An official Certificate Handover Ceremony was held on 17 March 2016 at the Francois Ferreira Head Academy. The event, officially opened by Chef Francois Ferreira, was attended by business owners from the private sector, as well as officials from Eden District Municipality. Mr Francois Ferreira gave a brief overview of the program that kicked off in 2011. Chef Francois mentioned the following: ” Over the past seven (7) years, we have had a 90% success rate in student passes, 60% of students have joined the working class and completed their diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking”.
“Work as a team that operates like a family in the workplace, support each other. Employers are looking for eager workers, people with the right attitude. The right type of personality will get you far in life,” said Chef Ferreira.
The Eden Speaker, Cllr Doris Nayler, spoke about the importance of the understanding students have about the subject matter and how a persistent attitude helps a person to solve problems. “The start of knowledge is the intention behind learning if you do not understand something you need to be persistent at trying to figure it out. From the Executive Mayor of Eden District Municipality, we wish you a success on this life path, God’s praise and mercy be with you. It is a beautiful path that you have chosen.”
Shortly after the ceremony, students and roleplayers were treated with platters prepared by students.
