Training on handling hazardous material provided to Eden DM Roads employees

Eden District Municipality (Eden DM) Roads employees received training on 19 and 20 May 2016 at the Eden DM Joint Operating Centre (JOC), about handling hazardous material. Roads employees often transport and store hazardous objects that are used at civil construction sites.

The NQF Level 2 Unit Standard 14560, was facilitated by Ms Sherley Storey, from the Academy for Construction Skills. The outcome of the training aims to upskill employees on how to identify and take precautionary measures when handling various hazardous materials in terms of their physical properties. The training also included overviews of the National Road Traffic Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
