A new specials portal, or aggregator, has been unveiled on the Wetu platform, giving the trade easy and centralised access to special deals.
Speaking during a webinar unveiling the new offering, Paul de Waal, Founder of Wetu, said the way specials were currently managed and distributed was cumbersome for suppliers and operators.
According to De Waal, Wetu’s specials portal aims to allow suppliers to effectively manage and distribute their specials, while giving operators a simple way to find and use relevant specials. Specials are organised by destinations, dates, special interests and types. Furthermore, De Waal says that by centralising the specials, operators will be able to compare different specials.
“We hope the portal becomes an everyday tool that will give consultants the ability to search and find specials and packages that add value to your business,” De Waal told operators during the webinar.
He said the portal had over a thousand specials across all the properties using Wetu. The specials are also available on the content portal and there are plans to introduce the specials to the itinerary builder, which will allow consultants to use specials when building an itinerary.
At this stage, suppliers cannot target different specials to different tiers in the channel, distinguishing between DMCs, tour operators and travel agents. However, De Waal emphasised that Wetu was a business-to-business tool, with a trade user base.
He has also asked operators to give feedback, which will be used to improve the product.
