Jesse Clegg will be releasing his brand new album in June, entitled, ‘Things Unseen,’ it is the first locally recorded album since his first album, ‘When I Wake Up.’ Jesse Clegg started writing the songs whilst in New York in 2013 and finished all the writing back home in South Africa in his own studio in Johannesburg. Jesse explains how the album was recorded, “It was a fantastic and challenging experience, I wanted to move away from guitar as my primary writing instrument and incorporate new elements. Many of the songs were written with piano and electro soundscapes and rhythms. Technology played a big part in the making of the productions, using the studio as a tool to arrange the music around the emotional quality of the songs. ‘Things Unseen,’ features 10 original tracks, with ‘Use Me’ and ‘Souvenir’ being the first two singles released last year. His latest single, ‘Breathing’ ft. Shekhinah was released in May on 947 & KFM’s #CokeTop40SA chart show to an amazing response, which saw the song play listed immediately.

Their latest single “Easy Love” has since been playlisted on numerous radio stations across South Africa and reached the no 1 position on 5fm`s SA Top 30 Charts.  On TUKS FM it remained number 1 on the local Top10 chart for 2 consecutive weeks. On the 24th of June, the band will be heading overseas to open for a well-known UK-based band, Stornoway. They will be playing in London, Brighton and Winchester. Richard Stirton is the first winner of the South African edition of The Voice. (MNET) Mentored by Kahn Morbee from The Parlotones, Richard won the hearts of his supporters with his gravelly voice and likeable personality.

Richard, 22, hails from the vibrant suburb of Rondebosch, Cape Town. Richard poured all of his focus into sport before turning to music after several sporting injuries halted his sporting progress. Richard’s first solo performance was in the Rondebosch Boys’ High Cabaret when he was 17. After dabbling in theatre, Richard enrolled at the University of Cape Town to commence a degree in Business Science. Music, however, was something that he couldn’t quite give up.

Come 2014, Richard decided to take gap year to pursue his passion for music again. During this time, he worked at Stardust Restaurant as a “singing waiter” for the year and began playing solo gigs by the end of that year. The following year he entered The Voice South Africa, on the encouragement of his friends and family, and after being coached by Kahn Morbee (Parlotones), Richard took the coveted first prize. Following the show, Richard signed a lucrative record deal with Universal Music. Watch his beautiful rendition of ‘Sound of Silence” on The Voice SA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgb4cNCN-zI

Prime Circle are no strangers to touring and have been continuously raising the bar in efforts to expand their musical horizons and boundaries for many years now. Their upcoming three-piece “STRIPPED” tour is no exception. Ross, Dale and Neil will be embarking on a national tour of difference they say as the music is stripped down to its bare minimum getting to the root of the songs and their stories. The reason for only having the three members and not the usual five is so that the band can get to play more intimate venues, fans will get to see the whites of their eyes as they lay down the music that has been a part of so many people’s lives and experiences. This is definitely a show to watch.

Cape Town’s star entertainer, Stuart Taylor, finally makes his way to the deep south with his award winning comedy show – ‘Seriously Funny’. Stuart has always been renowned for his improvisational wit and with ‘Seriously Funny’, Stuart takes this conversational style to new heights. A little less script and a lot more punchlines will have you doubled over with laughter. From living with first world problems in a not-so-first-world country, to having to pretend that snotty nosed kids are adorable in front of their parents, this show is an honest account of fighting our way into middle class South Africa. Politics, loadshedding and the desperation of getting your kids to speak in a ‘Bishops’ accent all comes under scrutiny in this laugh a minute show.

Irit Noble is a Comedy Diva deluxe, with her list of parody songs including Taylor Swifts Trouble and Drake’s Hotline Bling. In 2015 Noble won the Mbokodo Award (bestowed in conjunction with the Department of Arts and Culture) for her contribution to SA comedy, as well as the www.oflocal.co.za Best Comic in Cape Town. With her reputation for being outrageously outspoken and skrik-vir-niks-nie, she is the only female entertainer in South Africa who combines music and comedy and is also an accomplished, stylish emcee.

“The cornerstone of this show is what I call The FabuKak Balance of Life. The show is about the everyday life stuff that everyone experiences, but related through my own (sometimes jaundiced, sometimes jaded) point of view. I laugh at life because surely this is all a joke, right? And I sing songs because I can, and because I think they’re funny. And so do others, so it`s all good!”

Blacksmith was formed in the early 1970’s and still has two original members. Their music style has drifted towards Pure Acoustic, and our repertoire contains Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, English, Irish and Scottish Traditional, a Capella Rap, Modern and Ancient Pop, Hard Rock and Boeremusiek – so no real focus then, but a reflection of a band that has been going for over 40 years. They play numbers they enjoy as a band, and happily their audiences seem to like them too. New blood injects new life into the band, brings new material and keeps them fresh. Blacksmith are about to head back into the recording studio to start work on our fourth album. Have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWjbqumKCRQ

Two Minute Puzzle is Pat McCay. He charmingly experiments with country, folk and blues and is always producing authenticity in his sound. Even prior to his single “Water” reaching #1 on 5fm, TMP has been causing a stir in South Africa and he has no intention of stopping now. Being no stranger to the national festival circuit with performances at Flamjangled Tea Party, White Mountain Folk Festival, Park Acoustics, Synergy Live and Rocking the Daisies (for four consecutive years), Pat has also collaborated with the likes of Jeremy Loops (“Turning Away” & “Hope Is”) as well as Gazelle and Inge Beckman. He even performed with The Parlotones in Arizona. Have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dea648QwLh0

Dave Knowles is an unfailingly powerful and intimate performer with an innovative style and eloquence of substance. With a prolific appetite for creation, Knowles’ music blurs elements of Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Radiohead and PJ Harvey in an expression truly his own. Over the decade since departing from his Manchester band, Shinobi, Knowles’ style has been catalysed by his exposure to percussive guitar and beatboxing, experiments in looping and sharing stages with the breadth of South Africa’s top guitarists.

Red Tape Riot produces music with a cutting contrast between heartfelt melodies and strong party grooves.
