Every year the Joubert-Tradauw Vineyards welcome visitors from all over to experience a fun-filled lifestyle festival in the Klein Karoo. With a special touch of true R62 hospitality, this gem of a weekend away offers great live music, good food and excellent wine.
Meyer and Beate Joubert had a vision 20 years ago, to host concerts on their farm in the beautiful Tradouw Valley. From this vision the concept of Unplugged62 was created. The style of the festival incorporates great music, boutique Joubert-Tradauw wines, Deli Alfresco foods and Unplugged62 pouched wines in collaboration with Van Loveren. The Jouberts had a bigger vision for this year`s 20th concert: “Full circle.’’ as Beate puts it. She explains: “Our little festival has grown over the years and to make sure that it is of the same standard as major SA Music Festivals, we have now teamed up with the formidable team of Red Hot Events, who also head up the annual Up The Creek and River Republic Music Festivals.”
Gates open on Friday 7 October at 15h00. At 17h00 the winemaker Meyer Joubert, will host a wine tasting (space limited, sign up on arrival) and an early evening spitbraai dinner (pre-purchase meal ticket) will get the good vibes going for the evening. One of SA`s most loved musicians, the blues-rock phenomenon Albert Frost will be on stage from 20h00 to bring some great tunes to kick off the weekend. Then at 22h00 DJ Dirtroad will play those good old familiar “50’s,60’s,70’s,80’s and 90’s beats. Bring your footloose dance moves!

There are various activities to choose from on the Saturday. Go to our website www.unplugged62festival.co.za for more info on these, including the Van Loveren Breakfast with Christina, a 5km trail run/walk/cycle on the farm and another chance to attend a wine tasting hosted by Meyer Joubert. From 15h00 to 17h00 a delicious Deli Alfresco lunch will be served to all festival goers – this (one) meal is included in the weekend festival ticket price along with a complimentary glass of Unplugged62 wine. End off the weekend on Sunday morning with the neo-classical music of Hezron Chetty. Chetty is a violinist and songwriter and performs the violin through a loop station. His style is fresh and his progressive approach to instrumental music will be a great way to wrap this wholesome weekend.

Unplugged62 is an event that could be considered the ”best kept secret of the Klein Karoo,” like Beate’s book; “Taste the Little Karoo”; which has won the 2015 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in the category “Best Local Cuisine book in South Africa.”
All ticket options include a full weekend of festivities. Tickets also include access to on-site camping facilities, as well as a Deli Alfresco Klein Karoo lunch on the Saturday from 15:00-17:00 and a glass of Unplugged62 Sauvignon/Merlot (your choice).
Wine on offer for the weekend will be plenty and a fully stocked bar will be set up next to the stage where visitors can enjoy tastings of Joubert-Tradauw’s wines as well as Van Loveren’s much loved brands.
Unplugged62 is a great weekend away for the whole family – all ages are welcome. Kids 12 and over can take advantage of the discounted ticket rate, while kids under the age of 12 are allowed free entry.
