Union Stars (259/6) extended their position at the top of the table in the Sedgars SWD Premier League competition after a comprehensive 61 runs victory against Ramblers (198 all out) at the Bridgton Sport Grounds on Saturday. Pieter Stuurman (83*) and Marcello Piedt contributed with half centuries for Union Stars.
Lesley Maksella (92 with the bat) and (6/19 with the ball) produced an outstanding all round performance to ensure a bonus point 123 runs victory for Western Hope (202) all out against Sussex (79 all out). Jean du Plessis (75*) and Coenie Nel (50) excelled with the bat as the NMMU Madibaz (238/6) claimed their first victory of the season with a 135 runs defeat against Mossel Bay (103 all out). Wiaan Oosthuizen (4/25) and Johandré Barnard (3/5) was outstanding bowlers for the George students.
Pirates United (86/8) defeated George (82 all out) by 2 wickets in a low scoring match at Rooirivier-rift while Pacaltsdorp United (119/8) got their campaign on track again with a nail-biting two wicket victory against Harlequins (118 all out).
