From the Executive Mayor of Eden District Municipality

To all those who live and work in the Eden district, those visiting or passing through, and even to those yet to come, I have the privilege to welcome you to our beautiful district.

As the name suggests, it truly is the “Garden of Eden”, with its awesome Outeniqua pass, to the long stretches of beaches, from Hessequa to Plettenberg Bay, of which, most of our beaches, have been awarded Blue Flag status, which we are very proud of.

We cannot forget our Klein Karoo semi-desert, with its rolling fynbos and majestic, mighty Swartberg and Langeberg Mountains, which accommodates our famous Cango Caves.

With so many places to visit and wonderful sights to see, we are thankful to be part of, and live in such a wonderful district.  We will endeavour to keep the standard of service delivery during the holidays and festive season to the utmost highest levels, from all our municipalities and government departments, business associates and partners within the district.

As we approach the festive season with the extra influx of tourists and holiday makers, I urge you to be tolerant and to please use the water resources wisely and sparingly.  Besides all of the above,   I wish you all to, keep safe, stay healthy and enjoy the time spent with family and loved ones.

To our holidaymakers, below are the top 3 things to do or places to visit in the region.

Plettenberg Bay:
Birds of Eden, Plett Winelands and adventure activities.

Knysna:
Oysters and Slow-Food options, Micro Breweries, Cycling and Mountain biking trails.

George:

Mossel Bay:
Visit Blue Flag beaches, the Bartholomeu Diaz Museum complex and the Point of Human Origin.

Please remember the elderly and those who may be alone during the holidays.  Do not forget to extend a helpful hand to the less fortunate and those in need.  Let us not forget our paw friends, make sure they are properly looked after and kept safe too.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and may 2017 be more blessed and prosperous for all.
