Johan Weyers, the Amateur Manager at South Western Districts Cricket, was recently appointed as Senior Cricket Manager at Cricket South Africa (CSA).

He will soon exchange his office at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn for the High-Performance Centre in Pretoria where the CSA Cricket Services department is based. He will be responsible for managing and implementing the Cricket Services strategy at Senior Cricket level nationally and in conjunction with the CSA Managers and Members (Affiliate/Associate).
In his response, Mr Rudy Claassen, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of South Western Districts Cricket, expressed the honour for SWD Cricket to produce a quality employee to the national office. “I am very grateful to be involved and to make a positive contribution in his career development at SWD Cricket over more than a decade”, he said. “SWD Cricket’s loss is a gain for CSA” and we wish him all the best for his future, he concluded.
Weyers joined SWD Cricket in October 2004 with the opening of a full-time office structure. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of cricket structures to adhere to the CSA criteria for SWD to become a full affiliate member in 2012, said SWD Cricket Chief Executive Officer, Albertus Kennedy. “He was also instrumental in various programs and projects over the years but his contribution to SWD’s success in achieving the second position in the CSA Incentive Score Card for the Operational Model in 2015/16” deserves special recognition”, Kennedy said.
Weyers was pleased for the various opportunities he had at SWD Cricket since 2004. “I would like to thank the staff, all involved in my growth as a person and to the Board of Directors for their leadership and the development of the game in the province”, he said. “It is not easy for me, but I am proud and grateful to be given such kind of experience”
