The SWD Women’s team won both the Limited Over and Twenty20 matches in the Cricket South Africa Provincial Women’s competition against Kei the past weekend.
The matches were hosted at the Bridgton Sport Grounds on Saturday and Sunday respectively. In both matches SWD earned bonus point victories by thanks to comprehensive margins.
In the limited overs match the SWD ladies posted 229 (47.4 overs) thanks to fine contributions by Elzaan Pietersen (96; 95 balls, 9×4) and Monique Booysen (40; 75 balls, 3×4) who shared on opening stand of 129 runs. Yolanda Ndzungu (3/24) and Zizo Madikana (2/37) were the pick of the bowlers. Kei were dismissed for 121 for a comprehensive 108 runs victory. Jane Winster (4/25) was the pick of the bowlers and received good support from Monique Booysen (2/21) and Marion Williams (2/11).
In the T20 fixture Booysen with an unbeaten 37 from 28 balls (3×4’s) continued her good form to enable SWD to post a respectable 150/6. Winster (25), Marnazelle Rabie (24) and Bianca Figeland (28) added valuable support. Kei replied with 63/9 as SWD cruised to a comfortable 87 runs victory. Booysen (2/14 in 4 overs) and Rabie (2/3 in 3 overs) were the top performers with the ball.
SWD’s final round of matches will be on 17 and 18 February when they take on KwaZulu Natal in Oudtshoorn.
