Please be aware of an accommodation scam that is presently taking place in our region. We have received a report from a guest house in Oudtshoorn as well.
As one of our hotel members that a reservation is made, money paid into your account, proof of payment is submitted BUT the payment is by cheque and before it is cleared he advises you that his wife mixed up the accounts and overpaid you. She ‘paid’ in R81,231.00 for an R1400.00 accommodation account and then he requests that the balance is paid back into his account.
Attached the ID document of Mr Robert Gumede or Mr Lucky Kunene. The picture is the same, the ID nos different and this may not even be a picture of him.
Please be aware of these scams and do not get caught. Make sure the money is safely in your banking account before you refund a single cent.
