The SWD senior team suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Cricket South Africa Provincial competition when they lost by 8 wickets against Northern Cape in a match that was played at the Recreation Ground the past weekend.

SWD, who again failed to earn any batting bonus points, are now at the bottom position of Pool A at 47.46 points with three matches remaining.
Putting in to bat first SWD was dismissed for a modest 132 with only Murray Commins (40; 101 balls, 5×4) that made any impression. Warren Bell (4/43) was the visitor’s outstanding bowler. In their first innings, Northern Cape thanks to a century by Gerrie Snyman (133; 234 balls, 12×4) posted 265 for a lead of 133 runs. Glenton Stuurman (3/35) and Nkululeko Serami (3/49) both bagged three wickets.
In their second innings it was Commins (78; 112 balls, 9×4) who again made a fine contribution and together with Brendon Louw (67; 175 balls, 7×4) enabled SWD to reached 251 (all out). Northern Cape comfortably reached the winning target (119/2) before tea on the final day with 8 wickets in hand.
The limited over match that was scheduled for Sunday was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
