Newcomer to the music scene, cross-over artist YAEL has been selected by SA Rugby to perform at the opening test match in the Boks vs France series at Loftus Versfeld this weekend.

Lira and Bobby van Jaarsveld will be performing the South African national anthem while YAEL, who is fluent in French, will be performing the French national anthem.
Says YAEL, “As a child I could sing the anthem, which I learnt at school when I studied French. Although I’m deeply patriotic, it’s a great honour to sing this anthem for our French visitors and to have the opportunity to use my singing as an expression of multiculturalism. I truly believe that music can be a universal language, creating unity among us all.”
Petite and beautiful, YAEL last year released her debut album ‘Fly Away’, which was produced by multi lifetime achievement awardee Richard Loring. ‘Fly Away’ is a showcase of her diverse talent and her passion for expressing cultural diversity through music. YAEL speaks several languages and can sing in eight.
The album explores a diverse mix of classical, rock and contemporary songs written by, amongst others, David Foster, Madonna, Brian May, Mick Jagger, Albert Hammond and Barbra Streisand. YAEL effortlessly transcends boundaries of culture, race, language and genre through African, European, pop, folk, and contemporary music, which blend into one rich experience.
Born into a musical family, YAEL studied piano, ballet and drama as a child and trained in classical singing from the age of 16.
