A fire, which broke out in the early hours of 28 May, may have caused immeasurable damage to the iconic Lanzerac Hotel, but it has not affected the operations of its winery division. Although the Estate has been closed to the public since the incident, the Tasting Room reopened its doors on Monday, 12 June.
“Lanzerac is an iconic name in the wine industry and just as the brand has stood the test of time so has our team in the recent events. We are passionate about the brand and can’t wait to welcome visitors back to the estate to showcase our current range and a few exciting new vintage and range releases we will be launching later this year,” says Lanzerac Wine Estate General Manager, Barend Barnard.
During the winter months, the Tasting Room will be open to the public Monday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm, including public holidays. The Tasting Room offers visitors a warm Winter ambience with its lush interior and cozy fireplace. It is the perfect venue to enjoy a glass of full-bodied red wine over the weekend when meeting up with friends. Daily cellar tours at 11h00 are complementary with wine tastings and provide a behind-the-scenes-look of what goes on in the cellar to make that perfect bottle of Lanzerac wine. Following the cellar tour, three wine tasting options are available:
Heritage Tasting at R150 per person for the 4 flagship wines;
Wine & Chocolate Tasting at R120 per person for 5 wines and 5 chocolates;
Premium Tasting at R70 per person for any 5 Premium Wines.
Don’t leave without enquiring about how you can become a Wine Club member where you will be able to enjoy amazing discounts and offers on the wines in the range. Existing Wine Club members will soon be receiving news on the latest not-to-be-missed offers.
The Soup and Wine Evening, scheduled for 29 June, will also proceed as planned. Enjoy a welcome drink on arrival 5:30 pm, followed by a tasting of Lanzerac’s Premium wines. Before making your way back home after the tasting enjoy a hearty bowl of delicious soup and home baked breads on offer. This will also be the perfect opportunity to stock up on wines which will be on sale at cellar door prices. The cost is R95 per person and bookings can be made with Zelda Furstenburg on 021 886 5641.
