Two Top SA Destinations in Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay is home to two of the best destination category winners of the annual prestigious Sanlam Top Destination Awards which was held in Cape Town on Friday 15 September.

Dibiki Holiday Resort, next to the Hartenbos River, was awarded the Best 4* Caravan and Camping Resort in SA and the ever popular Santos Express Train Lodge on the water’s edge as the Best (ungraded) Lodge of the Year. It is the second year in a row that Santos has walked away with this prestigious award.

And this week Dibiki also received the good news that they were the Western Cape winners in the Caravan & Camping section of the national Lilizela Tourism Awards. Dibiki has previously won the national award and hopefully they will do it again on 29 October when the finals are held in Johannesburg. *

A total of 9 700 entries were received for this year’s competition and 35 establishments were awarded the winning title of ‘Sanlam Top Destination Award’ in their respective categories and star gradings. It was an incredible evening showing recognition to the local entrepreneurs who make the South African tourism industry as great as it is.

In conjunction with title sponsor, Sanlam, Discount Traveler South Africa pulled out all the stops to ensure a special evening themed #MyHeartBeatsAfrica.

Finalists are privy to R10 000’s worth of advertising in The Traveler Mag South Africa to accompany their certificate and the 35 winners each walked away with the title of Top Destination in their category and star grading They received a winner’s certificate and hand-crafted ceramic elephant trophy by Rialheim Ceramics, as well as their share in R1 000 000’s worth of advertising!

*The ATKV Resort Hartenbos won the 2* Self-catering Exclusive Western Cape Lilizela Award. They will also be represented at the 2017 National Lilizela Awards in Johannesburg on 29 October.
