Port Elizabeth – In medieval times, a jester was employed by a nobleman or monarch to entertain him and his guests. The heavyweights of South African comedy are by no means jesters, but they certainly do entertain…
Catch the Kings & Queens of Comedy at the Boardwalk Convention Centre in Port Elizabeth on the 9th of December, 2017 for a show of hysterical proportions.
Shining their comical armour and sharpening their witty swords for the night, the stellar line-up of comedy giants includes Riaad Moosa (MC), Joey Rasdien, Khanyisa Bunu, Leeanda Reddy, Loyiso Gola, Ntosh Madlingozi, Sifiso Nene and Tumi Morake.
Leading the pack, Riaad Moosa takes the role of MC for this royal affair. Riaad is one of South Africa’s most acclaimed funny men. He certainly seems to have the remedy for the nation’s ills – a healthy dose of laughter, straight up – and hold the aspirin.
Joey Rasdien is instantly recognisable. His endearing stage person is intellectually absurd, physically hysterical and thought-provoking.
Teacher-turned-comedienne, Khanyisa Bunu is a fan favourite. She was the first woman to win the audience choice award at the Comics’ Choice Awards and has also made her mark on SA TV with roles in Scandal! and Ses’Top La.
Leeanda Reddy is a familiar face on South African screens and she has proved time and time again that she has a flair for comedy.
With a stack of awards, accolades and achievements under his belt, Loyiso Gola is a comedic force not to be taken lightly. He is best known as the host, co-producer and writer of the Emmy-nominated satirical news show, Late Night News with Loyiso Gola.
Ntobeko “Ntosh” Madlingozi has a commandeering presence on comedy stages. He is a South African entrepreneur and stand-up comedian, best known as a judge on the SABC1 reality competition talent show So You Think You’re Funny.
Off stage, Sifiso Nene is a man of few words. On stage, telling jokes is the only place he feels completely at home. His passion and determination, sprinkled with talent has seen him winning various awards including the Audience Choice Award at the SA Comics’ Choice Awards.
Tumi Morake’s impressive resume includes radio host, presenter, TV show host, brand ambassador, actress and ‘Queen of Comedy’ – her unique ability to deliver all the laughs and right punches has become synonymous with what fans have come to expect from this clever, witty and hilarious comedian.
Don’t miss the Kings & Queens of Comedy, 9 December 2017 at the Boardwalk Convention Centre, Boardwalk Casino, Port Elizabeth. Tickets from R180 and are available through Computicket online and the various retail outlets. The show starts at 20h00 and is rated PG16.
