The Joint Operations Centre (JOC) at Eden District Municipality has been deactivated. If the weather is clear and favourable tomorrow, a reconnaissance flight will take place to assess the fire scars left by the fires since 1 November 2017.
The district saw some strong winds yesterday, which would usually have caused flare-ups, but this didn’t happen because of ongoing monitoring and mopping-up operations.
It is predicted that there might be a medium risk of wildfires over the weekend, which means that Eden DM and role-players will be on alert over the weekend.
