The SWD Cricket team did well to recorded a credible draw against the Gauteng Strikers in the past weekend’s Sunfoil Cup Three Day match that was played at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn. Unfortunately, the home team lost by 35 runs in the 50 over one day match that was played on Sunday.

The Strikers, who batted first in the three day match were bowled out for 219 after Glenton Stuurman (5/45) produced his second five wicket haul of the season. SWD responded with 227/8 for a lead of 8 runs on the first innings. In their second innings the Strikers posted 239 leaving SWD with a target of 232 for victory. At stumps on the final day SWD was at 180/7 with Obus Pienaar on 58*.
In the limited over match Yaseen Vallie scored a match winning century as the Strikers posted 245 (all out). In their run chase SWD lost five early wickets but Brendon Louw (47) and Marcello Piedt (43) almost secured a memorable win. SWD was bowled out for 210 to give the Strikers a 35 runs victory.
