A tough assignment awaits the SWD cricket team when they travel to Durban this weekend.
The men from the Southern Cape who played against the strong teams of Eastern Province and the Gauteng Strikers at the Recreation Ground in their first two outings will take on the log leaders, KwaZulu Natal at Chatsworth in Durban in the Sunfoil Cup Three Day competition (from Thursday to Saturday) while the one day match will be played on Sunday.
SWD had the edge in both three day matches against EP and the Strikers but the KwaZulu Natal team were very impressive thus far this season and recorded outright victories in all four three day matches.
The bowling department will be hampered with Glenton Stuurman who will miss out in the three day match due to a hamstring injury. His injury will give opportunity to Marcello Piedt, Sammy Mofokeng and Bailey Aarons to proof their abilities. Justin Jordaan will get a long awaited opportunity in the three day match.
Sammy-Joe Avontuur will again be out of action and will be replaced by Todd Walker who will be keen to proof a point after his impressive first class debut last season. Jean du Plessis, who will be keen to impress the SA U/19 selectors aiming for a place in the World Cup Squad, will not be available due to SA U/19 commitments.
The SWD team for the three day match is:
Neil Hornbuckle, Letlotle Sesele, Brendon Louw (captain), Daniel Sincuba, Obus Pienaar, Todd Walker, Hanno Kotze, Marcello Piedt, Justin Jordaan, Bailey Aarons and Sammy Mofokeng. Glenton Stuurman and Mthobeli Bangindawo will be added to the one day team.
