Sound performance by SWD’s Jean du Plessis

Jean du Plessis of South Western Districts produced a sound performance for South Africa during the ICC U/19 World Cup that was recently held in New Zealand.

Du Plessis, a former learner at Glenwood House in George, who made his senior debut for SWD as an 17-year old, played the last four of South Africa’s six matches and ended with a healthy batting average of 39.0  His top score was 54 (from 54 balls) which he hit in the pool match against New Zealand.  He also took two magnificent slip catches in the play-off match for the 5th place against Bangladesh.  A match South Africa won by 8 wickets.

Du Plessis is a second year B Accounting student at the Nelson Mandela University (George Campus).  He will be available for selection for the SWD senior team for their remaining matches of the 2017/18 season.
