Friday the 23 February will see cricket coaches from around the region gather at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn, for what will be the first Cricket Coaches Conference held in SWD.
The aim of the conference is to equip cricket coaches with the latest knowledge, skills and information on different topics.
Different presenters will spend time during the day with the coaches. Adrian Birrel, the ex-Proteas Cricket Assistant Coach will be running the coaches through the “Practical Coaching Lessons” he has picked up over his career, from working with age group players, right through his recent stint with the Proteas under head coach Russell Domingo. This promises to be a very informative and practical session. Henrico Louw, (ETA George Campus) will be presenting a theory and practical session on Conditioning – “Fundamental Skills Development” which is very relevant to our current sporting landscape and one which all coaches from the different age groups will find enlightening. Other guest speakers include Baakier Abrahams, the SWD Head Coach and CSA Talent Scout and Jean Du Plessis who recently returned from the U19 World Cup in New Zealand.
All in all, the program promises to be an exciting and information packed one, which coaches will be able to implement into their coaching and elevate both their own skills as well as those of their players.
