The SWD premier league champion, Union Stars, suffered a disappointing defeat in the play-off match against the Boland club champion, Wellington, on Saturday.
The Oudtshoorn based team lost by 7 wickets and missed out on an opportunity to represent the Western Cape franchise at the Momentum National Club Championships that will be hosted in Pretoria later this month.
Union Stars were restricted to 109 runs where after Wellington only needed 21.1 over to reach the target.
