The Knysna Wine Festival may be an institution, but this year’s new location on Thesen Island will be a first for the well-known event.
On Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 July, wine lovers will have the chance to experience over 200 wines from more than 50 wine producers, as well as sample deliciously different craft liquors from across the Cape Winelands and Garden Route.
Said Wine Festival Director, Belinda Hobson: “We wanted to launch an exclusive wine festival in the Garden Route which would not only give visitors the chance to experience a vast range of delicious wines but also meet and interact with the winemakers. And so, the Knysna Wine Festival was born. There was obvious synergy with the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, and we joined forces in 2005.”
As new presenting partner of the Knysna Wine Festival, Pick n Pay is bringing back the Pick n Pay Wine Club Tasting Room, where visitors can enjoy a range of food-and-wine pairings hosted by an expert in the field. Learn why oysters pair best with a crisp Riesling, or if it’s true that a Shiraz or Cabernet is the perfect companion to a sizzling steak, for example. So make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment!
For the chance to win two tickets to the Festival, including guaranteed entry to the exclusive Pick n Pay Wine Club Tasting Room, sign up at www.picknpay.co.za/wineclub during June using the reference KOF2018. One winner will be drawn every Friday for four weeks. T&Cs apply.
The Pick n Pay Wine Club is a free-to-join club that’s open to anyone who enjoys a good bottle of wine at a great price. All members receive 20% off the Wine Buyers’ Top 10 wines every month in addition to exclusive offers, competitions, and invitations to events. As a Wine Club member, you ’ll also receive free delivery when buying wine online, making stocking up on all your favourites easy and hassle-free!
Tickets are available online at www.webtickets.co.za or at the Money Counters at Pick n Pay Knysna and George. Tickets will also be available at Knysna and Sedgefield Tourism Offices from the first week of June.
Every year the Festival is geared towards raising funds for communities in and around Knysna and this particular event will donate a portion of the door takings to the Little Angels Day Care Centre for challenged and otherwise-abled children in the Knysna District.
