Empowered Women Empower Women

(July 2018, Cape Town) – Empower Me is celebrating women in the best way possible this Women’s Day at Shimmy Beach Club on Thursday, 09 August.

Created to inspire, motivate and empower, the August edition of Empower Me promises to engage, inform, educate and entertain with topics ranging from health, beauty and fitness, the power of positivity, to personal style, finance and productivity, all presented by leading industry professionals. What would an empowering event be without the efforts to uplift those less fortunate. Empower Me is hoping to raise enough money through event ticket sales to donate Princess D menstrual cups to teen girls who can’t afford basic sanitary and other female necessities.

Many girls use unhygienic alternatives to sanitary pads or tampons, putting them at risk of infection. In South Africa, around nine million girls aged between 11-19 miss out on valuable schooling for at least a week each month. The Princess D Menstrual Cup is an environmentally-friendly, hygienic and cost-effective alternative product for menstruation. At R 350 per unit, the menstrual cup offers 12 hours of leak-free protection for 10 years, the equivalent of approximately 3 000 tampons/sanitary pads. The Princess D Menstrual Cup, co-owned and endorsed by double Olympic Gold Medallist Caster Semenya, was created to prevent girls from missing school but this cost-effective and eco-friendly solution can be used by anyone, at any age. The cup is made with medical grade silicone and provides comfortable, secure, discreet and leak-free protection for up to 12 hours.

The Empower Me Women’s Day event will be hosted by KFM’s Mamohau Seseane, guest speakers include Skin Renewal aesthetic specialist, Dr Shahra Sattar, health and fitness guru and owner of Warrior Warehouse, Emma Jooste, personal styling team, BeautifullYou, NLP practitioner Nephrite Jade, confidence coach, Abigail Kloppers, and financial advisor and the brains behind Empower me, Janine Brink.

Tickets include canapés and a two-course lunch, music by DJ Rene, welcome drinks courtesy of Graham Beck and Disaronno, gift bags, pamper stations, pop-up shops and fantastic prize giveaways.
