In the run-up to PIWOSA’s #LiquidArt showcase during CapeWine 2018, gorgeous works of #LiquidArt specially created for each of the eleven PIWOSA members are being revealed – one at a time: all part of the most beautiful series of ‘Wine Still Lifes’ created by Bianca Davies and Malu Lambert.
Bruce Jack, one of South Africa’s iconic innovators and global pioneer, has many winemaking ventures under his belt. His fascination with both super premium and ‘lifestyle’ wines culminates in a portfolio ranging from great value wines sourced from local as well as global vineyards, to exclusive single vineyard boutique family estate wines. Always searching for value and the perfect blend of winemaking, science, art and the love of the land. “Through science we understand how to get the basics right. But it is the art that contributes the X factor that sets some wines apart,” says Bruce.
The American poet, Theodore Roethke, said: ‘Art is the means we have of undoing the damage of haste. It’s what everything else isn’t.’ “I love this quote,” continues Bruce. “In our world of rushed irrelevance, we seem to have lost the ability to just be comfortable in the now, in the present.”
There Are Still Mysteries Single Vineyard Pinot Noir. “I love Pinot Noir. It transcends the obvious and the easy. Like life, however, it can sometimes seem unforgiving, unfair and unfathomable. But, when this grape shines, what lies beneath the layers of aroma and flavour can be so moving one instantly becomes a believer again.”
Beautiful Wine by Bruce Jack
