(JOHANNESBURG): Following the much anticipated launch of the Patrón Perfectionists competition, entries have been pouring in from talents across the country.
The competition aimed at uniting barmen in the quest to create the best cocktail is heating up as the finalists get narrowed down by seasoned industry professionals.
Meet The Finalists…
Aidan Powrie, Peter Lebese and Cassandra Eichhoff represent the finalists from the Western Cape, while Bruce Dorfling flies the KZN flag high. Justin Bester and Alex da Fonseca, hailing from Gauteng, have also joined the ranks of those who stand a chance to be crowned Patron Perfectionist 2018.
“We are very excited at the calibre of entries we have been receiving and anticipate a difficult call in picking a winner. Patrón is synonymous with craftsmanship is all about attention to detail and pride in the perfection process, so we are proud of the submissions we have narrowed it down to with some of the countries best,” commented Patrón Director, International Marketing, Matthew Sykes.
The panel of judges include: Cause and Effect owner Kurt Schlechter who’s also an award winning bartender and drink consultant; The Stack’s Candice Baker who is an avid whiskey enthusiast; South Africa’s 2017 Perfectionist, Joshua Garthwaite; as well as Patrón Director, International Marketing, Matthew Sykes.
The finals are taking place on the 27th of September 2018 at MOOTEE BAR in Melville Johannesburg, an African tale inspired craft bar and kitchen best known for being the local bar that uses African ingredients and routines to produce one of a kind beverage (and culinary) experiences. The finals will be hosted by Bacardi Martini Brand Ambassadors Richard Neil Irwin and Nick Koumbarakis.
