South Africa (August 2018) – The Disabled Road Race Foundation (DRRF) is calling on the public to become members of the foundation.
The aim of this call out is to expand its membership by means of better involvement of the disabled, specifically wheelchair bound people, but also community organisations and people who are not disabled. The AGM of the DRRF will be held on 27 September 2018 at 17:30 at Carpe Diem School. New members and all persons interested in becoming members of the DRRF are welcome to attend this meeting.
The Disabled Road Race Foundation was established in 2004 with the aim to organise the annual Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge (OCC). Several role-players in the OCC have requested that the OCC be expanded to present other sport codes prior to the OCC. It was furthermore requested that the operations of the DRRF be expanded in order for the foundation to be involved with the disabled community throughout the year and not only during the OCC.
It is a necessity that wheelchair bound athletes are involved in organising the OCC. Their input is essential and for that reason at least two wheelchair bound athletes will be elected as Directors of the DRRF, the board of directors. Membership of the DRRF is FREE. The only step is to complete the membership application form and send it to the DRRF. (Please see DRRF membership application form in this edition of the newspaper)
