Dear Friends of the Environment,
herewith another bumper WESSA Eden Newsletter with numerous events of interest organised by various organisations.
Our own forthcoming events are Coastal Clean up on 15 September and another Geology day trip ( Mossel Bay to Wilderness ) on the 20 October. More details in the Newsletter and PLEASE book early to avoid disappointment!
Do you occasionally sit back and realise why you enjoy living in this area?
I certainly do and apart from the obvious – mountains, landscapes and coastlines – the sheer excitement of hearing that someone has recently seen a leopard in their garden in Wilderness…or someone else has seen fresh elephant spoor in the Knysna forest makes you aware of how precious the area is and that every effort should be made to conserve and protect our biodiversity and create much needed corridors.
This Newsletter also includes a brief report back on the GRBR (Garden Route Biosphere Reserve’s ) first AGM. Do please at least inform yourselves on what this UNESCO designation means (see :
http://www.unesco.org/new/en/natural-sciences/environment/ecological-sciences/biosphere-reserves/africa/south-africa/garden-route/) and ideally find a way in which YOU can support the Reserve and become involved. https://gardenroutebiosphere.org.za/
