The power – packed 2018 Cape Town International Film Market & Festival is less than 50 days away! But this is not holding back its creative leadership from developing innovative ways to bestow recognition upon arts industry professionals.
In keeping with its theme Create. Collaborate. Celebrate. – The CTIFMF has partnered with Brand South Africa to announce a new addition to its award categories to be presented at its glamorous closing night awards ceremony.
The Most Patriotic SA Arts Industry Ambassador Award will recognise a South African creative or performer who has taken it upon themselves to be ex officio Ambassadors for Brand South Africa. This category is unique to the CTIFMF and is a reflection of the event’s commitment to promoting African excellence across the globe.
The award demonstrates that the CTIFMF continues to lead by example in developing innovative initiatives that help not only promote the film industry, but also the brand that is South Africa.
The award was especially designed based on an understanding the massive impact that leading arts personalities have on the development of a nation’s brand at both societal and macro social-economic levels. Successful celebrities, especially those that have succeeded on the world stage are powerful. The youth aspire to be like them. Corporates clamor to align with them, and the rest of the world is waiting to have their share of them.
Nominees may come from any sphere of the arts industry, including music, visual arts, literature, dance, and not exclusively from the film or television industries.
Between 7 -13 September we call on the public to visit the CTIFMF Facebook page and comment on the pinned-post with the name of their nomination. https://web.facebook.com/filmfestival.capetown/
The three nominees with the most votes will be selected as finalists. Voting for the winner will take place via a Facebook Poll from 17 – 28 September and the winner will be announced and handed an award at the Festival’s closing Night Awards Ceremony on 19 October.
CTIFMF Marketing & Communications Director Jehad Kasu explains further, “This innovative award recognises that the arts industries are inextricably linked. But what this award seeks to achieve is to acknowledge those artists who use their fame to selflessly promote their home country as a place of robust opportunities, cultural diversity, and as a must visit destination for any business of leisure traveller. Through this exercise we hope to inspire all famed South African artists to fiercely challenge one another for this coveted award in the future.”
Brand SA General Manager- Marketing, Sithembile Ntombela explains further why Brand SA opted to partner with the CTIFMF on this award “This award is to acknowledge that we have amongst us amazingly creative and innovative South Africans who are behind the great image and reputation of the country. We as Brand South Africa would like to honour and thank them for playing their part in building and uniting this great nation of ours.”
