December is a month of giving, togetherness and spoiling those that you hold dear to your heart. It is a time when families come together to unwind after a hectic year.
Unfortunately, reality remains tough for most abandoned children living in a children’s home, who long for a normal and stable family of their own… especially during the holidays.
This festive season, you and your loved ones can help to ensure that 2019 is a better year for the 210 inhabitants of Jakaranda Children’s Home in Pretoria and have fun doing it too. This is also the ideal solution if you are staying in town and have run out of good ideas to keep your children entertained.
From 1 to 31 December 2018, Gauteng families will once again be able to experience an enchanting spectacle of the most beautiful Christmas lights and South African music around, for the ninth consecutive year. The JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS LIGGIEFEES is held in aid of the beloved children’s home of the same name, which is highly dependent on sponsorships and fundraising projects for its survival.
“2018’s goal is to once again provide the public with an unforgettable festive experience. We rely on their support to equip us to be able to care for and develop our children, because they deserve the best,” says Gary van Veenhuyzen, a member of Jakaranda Children’s Home’s marketing and fundraising team. “This project does not only provide much needed funds, but also introduces our establishment to people who might not have known about it before.”
Festivalgoers who attend the JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS LIGGIEFEES can look forward to being entertained by various musicians on selected evenings, like Dewald Wasserfall, EON, Saarkie, Joshua na die Reën, Tussen Sterre, Heuning, 2nd Life, Ampie, Martin Bester and many more.
“The JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS LIGGIEFEES holds a special place in our hearts, because it puts a smile on children’s faces and supports a worthy cause. Children are the future and we should take good care of them,” says rock group, Saarkie, about their involvement in the festival. “Children are the lights of God’s creation and are very precious to Him. That is why every child, no matter what his circumstances, holds a special place in my heart too… If God is willing to dance for His children, how can I not be willing to sing for them! In this season of giving, I urge the public to open their hearts and come and sing and dance with us at this year’s JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS LIGGIEFEES,” adds Sharoney, who will be performing twice at this years festival.
In addition to quality music, each night will provide the opportunity for visitors to be amazed by millions of Christmas lights and treat themselves to some good food and craft stalls. Children will also be able to take rides on a train, Big Wheel or Carousel.
The JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS LIGGIEFEES, proudly supported by Pretoria FM, Coastal Hire, dW Audio & Backline, Ehlers Attorneys, Status Hiring, ESD Waste Management, Unlimited Events Group and LaserX, can be visited from 18h00 to 22h00 daily. On concert days, the gates will open at 17:00 open. Tickets will be available at the gate at R30 per person.
