National Golf Festival to be held in the Wilderness

NGF 2019 is inviting you to join us for the best festival yet. In an effort to stay innovative we are excited to introduce some new additions to create an even better experience for you during #YourUltimateGolfTour.

The dates for NGF 2019 is Wednesday 03 to Sunday 07 July during the winter school holidays. Statistically it is not as cold and wet as in August. It also presents a great opportunity to bring you family and friends along for a great time on the beautiful Garden Route.

Sunday 07 July 2019
4-Ball Team Challenge (If you are not part of a 4-ball we will pair you with other players. This is a fun event with unique rules)

Players will still be able to catch afternoon flights from George Airport on the Sunday. Courses and packages will be made available when the bookings open on 07 January 2019.

On the first day of the festival, Wednesday 03 July, we will be creating a mini golf village at the Wilderness Hotel, introducing quite a few new additions. Why? Because it is about creating a better experience for our players and sponsors. It also helps to grow the Garden Route golf industry and local economy. It will include the following…

The registration that always took place at The Pro Shop will now take place at the hotel with many other activities. We will ensure that you can still do all your golf shopping here from the stands at the expo.

The new expo will include a variety of expo stands where you can get the latest industry advise but also purchase you golf goods for the week.

A variety of conferences will be presented, from the business of golf in the Garden Route to a variety of topics to help players improve their game.

The large village green in front of the hotel will be transformed for chipping competitions and product demonstrations.

The day’s activities will flow into the official welcome cocktail function with some great food and entertainment.

The traditional NGF Tournament will now be staged over 3 days. Players can still choose their own itinerary as always.

The new NGF Cup will offer more serious players a more competitive alternative with bigger prizes. It will follow a similar format as the NGF Tournament but the three courses will be pre-determined.

The bulk of our players come to NGF as part of their annual golf tour so it is important for us to build on this and facilitate this fun element that is at the core of our festival. The final day of the festival teams will compete against each other in a fun competition for some floating trophies and bragging rights. This will still be done on a course of your choice and we will pair players that are not in a group with a four ball. You can now also purchase your own small trophy from our website when the bookings open to play for within your own four ball. We will try our upmost to conclude the team challenge in time for players to get to the airport for flights from 3pm on Sunday.

Our players have spoken and we have listened. They are at NGF to have a good time so no more ‘uptight’ prize-giving dinners. In 2019 the prize-giving function will be hosted at De Vette Mossel with great entertainment and a seafood experience to behold whilst you dip your toes in the sand and party the night away. This will include the prize-giving for the NGF Tournament and NGF Cup. The Team Challenge winners will receive trophies at each of the participating courses.
