The annual Feather Awards for airports awarded by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) are based on independent surveys of passengers and other airport users.
ACSA hosts their annual Feather Awards in all nine provinces. These accolades award excellence in performance and service in all airport service providers.
Four of Hertz Rent A Car’s branches came out tops. Hertz Rent A Car at East London Airport, Bloemfontein Airport, Kimberley Airport and Cape Town International Airport won prestigious Feather Awards for Best Performing Car Rental Service Provider at the 2018 regional Feather Awards.
The process of determining the winners of the Feather Awards requires months of data capturing and analysis of performances in each category. At the end of the process the winners in each category were determined.
Sonika van Zyl, regional manager of Eastern Cape, said she is happy for her team and fellow team members who won the award. “The whole team worked hard, and this has surely paid off throughout the year. We will keep this drive and passion for the future,” Sonika added.
The award categories covered the entire airport and its service providers including airlines, cargo operators, retail, car hire, security, law enforcement agencies, hotels, restaurants, ground handlers and community-based non-profit organisations. Hertz competed in the car rental category which consisted of all the rental service providers.
Advocate Sandile Nogxina, chairman of the board and ACSA’s Economic Regulating Committee, congratulated Airports Company South Africa and its stakeholders for flying the South African flag and shared his anticipation for achieving great things during his tenure as chairman of the board.
“The airports and aviation space promises to unlock the massive potential of our continent as we become more closely interconnected. I consider it a privilege to be able to guide the board of Airports Company South Africa as it emerges from challenging times and circumstances, but I have no illusions about the immense responsibility we now have on our shoulders as a collective. I look forward to developing good working relationships with all of our major stakeholders,” said Nogxina.
The keynote speaker at the award ceremony was Gordon Institute of Business Science’s Dr Thabo Mosala, who challenged the guests on the need to collaborate and partner within an ecosystem.
“Passengers are not just clients of an airline. These clients are taken care of the moment they arrive at the airport by security personnel and many other partners in the value chain. When you are a multi-stakeholder partner in an economy, working with other partners with an ecosystem mindset leads to greater collaboration, greater stability and economic benefits for all players in the ecosystem,” Dr Mosala explained.
