SWD Cricket to investigate unwanted behaviour

An unwanted and unfortunate incident that happened the past weekend in a Premier League match between Mossel Bay and Union Stars that was played at the Van Riebeeck Stadium in Mossel Bay will be properly investigated and action will be taken in terms of the Rules and Code of Conduct.

In the referred match the Union Stars team, allegedly refused to continue with the match after they were at 28/8, chasing a modest target of 100 – as set by Mossel Bay.

“We have mandated the Chief Executive Officer to conduct a proper investigation regarding the alleged incidents and to take the required steps”, said SWD Cricket President, Mr Rudy Claassen. “The report will be referred to the Social and Ethics Committee of the Board and we will not allow that the spirit in which the game of cricket should be played and be respected is damaged”, said Claassen.

An investigation will also be conducted for an alleged incident of assault of a player during a Premier League match that was played between Pacaltsdorp United and George on Saturday 24 November 2018 at the Pacaltsdorp Cricket Ground.
